Merling Josue Flores Guardado has a Degree in Biology from the Autonomous National University of Honduras. During her studies, she volunteered on various wildlife conservation programs.
She has worked at the PROLANSATE Foundation, an NGO that manages protected areas in Honduras: the Blanca Jeannette Kawas National Park, the Punta Izopo National Park and the Texiguat Wildlife Sanctuary. There she coordinated work on issues related to the monitoring and research of wildlife, while giving environmental education talks and workshops at the schools of communities located within these protected areas.
She has also worked at the Institute of Forestry, Protected Area and Wildlife Conservation (ICF), drawing up the Texiguat Wildlife Sanctuary Protected Area Management Plan.
