DESCRIPTION
The influence of climate change on the organisms inhabiting coastal zones may directly cause a loss of habitat if sea levels rise as predicted. Shorebirds (Charadrii) are an important part of the biodiversity of coastal wetlands, as well as playing a vital role in the mass and energy flows of estuarine food networks.
This project will examine the key biological characteristics of the main shorebird species and diagnose their state of health. This will provide us with a short- to medium-term check on the effects of climate change and other potential threats facing these species and their habitats, enabling plans to be developed for the management of the study area.
